Home Maintenance for November

Nov 04, 2013 No Comments by

Now that colder weather has arrived, it’s time to tackle indoor tasks and make sure your home is ready for the upcoming holidays!

Check your appliances

Make sure your appliances can withstand the demands required of them during the holidays. Vacuum the dust from your refrigerator’s lower grill in the front, and clean the condenser coils in the back with the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. While you’re in the kitchen, clean the oven and the drip pans on your stove. Next you can deodorize your garbage disposal by loading it with ice cubes and adding ¼ cup of baking soda. Turn it on and after the pulverizing noise stops, pour a kettle of boiling water down the sink.

Repair woodwork

Indoor air is at its driest in November so it’s an excellent time to polish or repair the woodwork in your home. Woodwork is often protected with some kind of clear finish, and you need to know what kind it is to clean the wood properly without damaging the topcoat.
